Being an adult sucks. Remember when you were in school? The moment you leave your last class all of the stress of the semester was washed away. You were free with nothing to worry about.

If you think you’ll feel this unburdening regularly for the next 40 or 50 years, you are wrong. Society callously rips it away first day of your first job. Regardless of your accomplishments, you’re expected to be back at work the next day.

The feeling is amplified as you take on more responsibility. The beginning of the next project coincides with the conclusion of last project. There’s no time to slow down and catch your breath. You keep chugging along toward a finish line that you can’t see only slowing down enough to grab a fast food to go bag and a coffee to keep you going. In the words of Abraham Lincoln, “That shit ain’t right.”

We all need to find time to enjoy ourselves... 

And so, in celebration of Dorothy’s first birthday and on the advent of our push to put her in the hands of paying customers, we’re taking the evening of Thursday, September 12, 2019 to reflect on our successes and failures (mainly the successes) of the last year while relaxing with our friends and colleagues while trying to relax. I’d say leave your shop talk at the shop, but I know that’s not going to happen. We’ll be at Trufit on the 10th floor of the Union Trust Building on Grant Street.
